Sketched Magazine has been accused of copyright infringement. The current owner of Sketched is a former contributor to Sketch Magazine, which is owned by Robert W. Hickey.
When we reached out for comment, Sketched Magazine blocked us on social media. They refused to answer any questions we asked, seemingly confirming that these allegations are, in fact, in progress.
A Kickstarter project by Sketched Magazine was canceled, with the following notice on Kickstarter: “SKETCHEDMAGAZINE 001 (Canceled) is the subject of an intellectual property dispute and is currently unavailable.” When viewing more copyright information, the following details were provided:
- Description of copyrighted material: “Sketch Magazine is a publication for which we have published over 45 issues in the past 20 years. The last issue was offered here on Kickstarter.”
- Description of infringing material: “This project (Sketch-ed) directly infringes on our magazine. The name is a direct rip-off from our magazine SKETCH MAGAZINE, which was offered here on Kickstarter.”
