Locifer

Hello, my fellow geeks and nerds! My name is Lauren, but most people call me Lo, or you may know me by Locifer, or if you’re really a day one, Skyeagleout. I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon, and currently live in Las Vegas. I’ve always had a strong attachment to video games, comics, and anime/manga. I was fascinated by all the amazing character designs (especially in manga) and wanted to bring that style to life. That’s when I knew I wanted to find a way to make that aesthetic a part of my everyday life.

Back in Portland, when I first started getting into modeling and photography, I did my first cosplay shoot for a Sailor Moon theme and loved it. Ever since then, I have dreamed about getting into the cosplay community. My first true experience with the cosplay world was when I did photography for Rose City Comic Con. My job was to capture cosplays and interact with the cosplayers, creating photos that they hopefully wouldn’t forget. The whole time during that experience, I was truly fascinated by the dedication and talent that were poured into the cosplays I was shooting. I was thinking again about how cool it would be to be on the other end of the lens myself in my own cosplay.

Fast forward a bit to when I relocated to Vegas. I started working for a comic shop called Torpedo Comics, where I was encouraged to let my nerd flag fly, and I started planning characters I wanted to cosplay. Doing comic book live sales for the shop really helped expand my knowledge of comics and all the different characters, which, of course, helped inspire future cosplays I wanted to work on. It was amazing being able to travel to cons, actually cosplay, and talk about comics all day everyday with the community I had dreamed of being involved in.

Ever since, I have cosplayed as a good handful of characters. My personal favorites have been Bunny Bulma and Launch from the Dragon Ball universe, Cammy from Street Fighter, Lara Croft from Tomb Raider, Madelyne Pryor from X-Men, and a sith version of Mara Jade from Star Wars. But of course, my list of dream cosplays does not stop there, and I’m always adding to the list of characters I wish to bring to life, some that are well known and some that I feel are highly underrated.

Even when I’m not traveling and hitting conventions, I’ve got different outlets for my hobby. Beyond Instagram, I currently stream on Twitch and will occasionally dress in cosplay to make the stream more fun. I feel like it makes the stream more interactive, plus I get to express myself in more ways than one.

Since I’ve joined the cosplay community, I have been overwhelmed by how supportive everyone is. Truly, it’s a wonderful experience, and I’m so happy with the connections I’ve made and the creators that I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. It’s very comforting knowing I can reach out to any of these people, and they’re all so eager to help with anything I’m working on, and they share the same excitement behind the craft. So here’s my official thank you to everyone I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with, and of course to Comics Illustrated for reaching out.

If anyone ever sees me in the wild or at a con dressed as your favorite character, don’t be afraid to say hi; I love meeting all of you!
