As 2024 gets underway, Rockin’ Rooster Comics is entering its 18th year and is looking forward to serving its fans and customers with the great service they’ve come to know and expect. Rockin’ Rooster Comics and Games is located at 5000 Glenway Ave, on the west side of Cincinnati, Ohio. But it doesn’t end there! Serving the entire Cincinnati area comic and gaming community, its patrons travel from all over the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky/Indiana region to visit this great spot!
Rockin’ Rooster has everything you need to pursue your favorite hobby. The comics selection is unmatched, with more than 100 boxes of back issues and new items every week. You’ll also find your favorite collected books, large format books, graphic novels, manga, and more. And there’s something for everyone! From the latest comics to a curated selection for younger readers. Golden Age to CGC Graded Books are a feature of the store. Customer service is also top-notch with a pull service for our patrons, as well. Let us know what you need, and we’ll make sure it gets picked for you. No request is too small—just let us know. Rockin’ Rooster is also proud to participate in Free Comic Book Day and spotlight local creators. There’s something for all ages.
But wait a minute, the gamers aren’t neglected. Not at all! There are two large rooms for gamers of all ages and games. From card games like Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon, to role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons, Warhammer 40K, and board games that feature Ticket To Ride, Catan, Arkham Horror, and much more! No electronic games, however. We let you have fun even when the power is out and the batteries are dead. The deep gaming inventory will certainly have something for you and your friends. The accessories wall is loaded with all the supplies you’ll want or need. Dice in every shape, size, and color, sleeves and paints in a rainbow of colors, and more! Stop in and peruse the selection. We’ve got you covered.
Up five steps, there is the dungeon for D&D (yes, our dungeon is upstairs), and there are organized games every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. In the lower game room, Magic tournaments are featured on Friday. All the books, cards, maps, and minis you’ll ever need are available for your gaming needs. Let’s not forget the HeroClix and Digimon players! HeroClix rolls on Saturday and Digimon hits on Sunday. Everything needed for these games and others are available. Rockin’ Rooster also prides itself on helping new gamers with getting the chops and know-how they’ll need to join in the games.
One of the areas Rockin’ Rooster is most proud of is its community involvement. From November through December, Rockin’ Rooster runs weekly raffles to help the Freestone Food Bank provide for those less fortunate during that time of year. A little boost to help those who need it. Everyone from store customers to the employees pitch in to make this a great success! Former co-owner Dave Jackson started the fundraiser six or seven years ago, and although he retired in March 2022, he still runs the raffles and can be seen around the shop from time to time helping out. Rockin’ Rooster has also participated in the Kids Wish Network, Shop with a Cop program, and was proud to sponsor the North Hill Avengers, a Cincinnati Youth Baseball League Team.
